Is the symbol on this flag the fleur-de-lys?

Well yes, absolutely. There's actually a lot to be said about the fleur-de-lis' place as a good luck charm.

In sacred Christian art, it was associated with the Virgin Mary and, through her, with qualities of purity, tenderness and compassion.

Some Catholic clergy also saw through the fleur-de-lis a representation of the Holy Trinity.

This symbol therefore carries a strong religious meaning, that’s clear… but not only that!

There is a legend in France according to which a fleur-de-lys was offered by an angel to celebrate the baptism of the famous King Clovis.

More than a simple blessing of man, it was also a question here of the blessing of the very young French nation.

In addition to the religious message, we therefore find here a prominent cultural element.

In short, whether this anecdote is true or not, the fact is that the golden fleur-de-lys decorated the standard of the kings of France for centuries.

According to the most serious sources, this flag "azure sown with golden fleurs-de-lys" was used for the first time by Louis VII around the middle of the 12th century.

Between national pride, a strong Christian sense and the history of our ancestors, this flag of medieval France will appeal to patriots and those who have remained faithful to their roots.
