A mezuzah with a Torah scroll? What is that ??
A mezuzah is a box in which a parchment containing a verse from the Torah is slipped, and which is nailed to your front door as a Jewish good luck charm.
In the book of Deuteronomy, God said, “ You shall write them on the posts of your house and on your gates.” Concretely, the custom of nailing a mezuzah at the entrance to one's house therefore aims to respect this biblical commandment.
The mezuzah therefore distinguishes Jewish homes from others. The verse written on the parchment of the Torah has a specific purpose: to remind us that our homes are sanctuaries and that we must act accordingly, especially when we enter and leave them.
According to some, the mezuzah is a kind of magical protection against certain attacks. We do not share this point of view.
