What is this symbol actually?
The Korean triple taegeuk is a powerful lucky charm with a rich history, a deep meaning and above all an ancient origin.
It is in reality the symbolic expression of one of the founding philosophical principles of the Korean people: Sam Taegeuk, or “triple great ultimate”.
Korean sages have in fact believed since the dawn of time that, to achieve a state of absolute sacredness, one must succeed in balancing the three poles of heaven, earth and humanity.
While many philosophies around the world have seen man as the fruit of the first two, Korea stood out for the unique place it gave him in its conception of the world.
In short, each of the three lobes represents one of these large poles which, in a swirling movement, seem to dance before our eyes.
