The Eye of Horus, sometimes also called Oudjat, is undoubtedly the most recognizable lucky charm in all of Egyptian mythology. The most common representation of this image is found on the amulet you see here.
You should know that this particular pattern is closely linked to a part of the human body that is still very mysterious: the pineal gland. That said in passing, this undeniable fact tells us a lot about the anatomical knowledge that scientists already had several millennia ago.
In short, the pineal gland is the site of the production of hormones such as melatonin and dimethyltryptamine (also known as DMT). The first serves to lull us into sleep while the second induces altered states of consciousness.
