An amulet engraved with the Valknut? What is this Viking symbol linked to?
The Valknut is one of the most intriguing symbols that the Norse people left behind. Its name comes from the Nordic roots “valr”, which means slain warrior, and “knut”, which can be translated as knot.
In fact, the Valknut is the “knot of the slain warrior”, or “ knot of slaughter ”. Yes, the word of Viking origin often has a clear and easy to understand meaning.
This amulet thus presents us with a Viking symbol composed of three triangles nested within each other representing the way in which the different worlds overlap.
Throughout its history, the Valknut was particularly associated with Odin, king of the gods and master of war and death. Truly, this powerful deity governed some of the most sinister and violent aspects of life.
According to Viking mythology, warriors who lost their lives in battle found themselves in Valhalla alongside Odin.
