In the Kingdom of Thailand, until recently known as the Kingdom of Siam, there is one of the richest traditions of arts and crafts in the world.
One of these professions is that of a wood engraver. Very often, it is modest artisans from northern communities who practice it, making their ancestral know-how available to city residents and tourists.
Originally from the small village of Hangdong, this lucky frog is a striking example of the type of traditions we have access to today.
Once its back is rubbed with the stick, the frog produces a particular sound, similar to the croaking we can hear at the edges of lakes.
The particular sound thus emitted makes our ears vibrate with its frequency cleverly calculated by the artisan-sculptor.
Initially designed to be a child's toy, the Hangdong frog has, over time, been considered a very powerful tool, sometimes even an instrument.
This is easily explained: many people who had one in their house have reported a series of happy events, simply exceptional luck.
Whether we believe in this type of tradition or not, we must admit that the inhabitants of the village of Hangdong place all their trust in it. Many people from Thailand too. And even others from all over the world.
