Why do Tibetans use such rectangular prayer flags?
You have probably already seen this type of flag in photos, or in films set in the mountains of Tibet.

When we visited the country, we had the chance to chat with Tibetans who explained to us how prayer flags work.
In fact, the wind is the key to the phenomenon.
As it blows through the Himalayan mountains, it carries with it the sacred mantras inscribed on the flags.
It is then only when the prayer flags have been completely torn and reduced to shreds by time that they will have offered all their blessings.
Indeed, as long as there is even one whole mantra left on the flag, it still has power and blessings to share.
