Where does this figure of the Egyptian lucky cat come from?

The ancient Egyptians held cats in very high esteem.

If, for example, you injured one, the sanctions could go as far as the death penalty!

This is explained quite easily: the priests of this civilization actually worshiped a half-female, half-feline goddess, known as Bastet.

The Greek historian Herodotus described numerous festivals during which cats were honored. In addition, large temples were dedicated to them, the animals being able to move freely inside.

During the excavations which took place in Egypt in recent years, numerous mummified cats were also found, an additional clue (if one were still needed) that the lucky cat phenomenon was indeed a reality in Egypt.

In fact, these mummies were often found in small feline-shaped sarcophagi... very similar to this Egyptian-style black cat statue!

Although we can no longer worship our cats with the same religious fervor as the ancients, many of us still hold them in very high regard.

In addition to the love we have for our pets, some put forward more... specific reasons.

Practitioners of witchcraft and magic in particular sometimes view the Egyptian lucky cat as a powerful figure possessing ancient powers that certain rituals can reveal.

There is sometimes particular mention of a link with the goddess that we mentioned earlier.

All this leaves you wondering, don’t you think?
