What is the meaning of the iron cross?
The Iron Cross was introduced in 1813 by Kaiser Frederic Wilhelm as a military medal aimed at decorating the most valiant soldiers.
Since then, the different states that have succeeded one another at the head of Germany have all used it.
This brings us to a sticky point: yes, so did Adolph Hitler's Nazi regime.
The Iron Cross was even his favorite decoration, which he personally awarded to his most loyal officers and the most valiant Wehrmacht soldiers.
Despite this historical parenthesis, this German lucky symbol persisted... until today when the Teutonic army still uses it.
