But actually, what is this famous “Om”?
The sacred symbol of Om (sometimes written Aum) represents the very essence of Hindu philosophy.
In fact, it is said that Om is the primordial sound that resonated at the creation of the universe, the one that can still be heard today deep within all that lives.
The Om symbol that you see on this amulet is composed of three Sanskrit letters containing three curves, a semi-circle and a point.
Each of these parts represents a different state of spiritual awakening (sleep, dream, non-dream and awakening).
When chanted, Om is considered the most sacred mantra in all of Hinduism. Many prayer or meditation sessions include it at the beginning (to mark reverence and respect) or at the end (to make the meditation last beyond the session).
