In fact, this mat carries two very powerful symbols: the Vegvisir and the runes.

On the one hand, we have Vegvisir. This is the circular symbol in the center of the mat.

Also known as the "runic compass" or the "Viking compass", it consists of eight branches whose ends are decorated with different primitive designs.

Many stories and legends present the Vegvisir as a magical aid that guides us spiritually... but sometimes also physically. This is debated among specialists, but some stories speak of symbols engraved on the longships which lit up to indicate that the Viking sailors were on the right path.

This type of legend therefore mentions magical powers (literally) that are sometimes very tangible.

In the Norse language, Vegvisir actually literally translates to “the pathfinder.” This is, to say the least, loaded with meaning...

In short, on the other hand, this carpet also benefits from the power of runes.

We are talking here about the writing system used by the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples before their Christianization.

The runes therefore served as letters. However, to stop at that would be stupid: each of them actually has an idea, a principle or a certain energy that the Vikings had identified.

If you have ever been interested in the art of divination, you cannot have missed it. Indeed, runes have been used for centuries in certain rituals. We often talk about "drawing runes", but their use is much broader than that.

Some even claim that these lucky symbols have the ability to invoke and direct the forces they represent.

By combining two such ancient and powerful elements, this Nordic divination mat promises us more than interesting clairvoyance sessions.
