What ? Isn't there just one kind of Buddha statuette?
Well no !
If for you the Buddha is always represented as a plump man with a jovial face, you are completely wrong.
The one from India has a completely different appearance.
The calm and relaxed face, the perfectly aligned back, the hands placed in a prayer position: everything here symbolizes calm and appeasement.
Seeing the Buddha with this attitude is no coincidence : it is in fact a reminder to any serious Buddhist that the goal of their practice is to achieve a state of serenity and, ultimately, the famous nirvana.
In addition to the spiritual side, this posture also has a much more practical, almost “mechanical” aspect.
