But actually, what is palmistry?
Palmistry is a esoteric art consisting of a reading in a person's hand (usually their palm) of their character, past and future. Concretely, practitioners will try to analyze the curves and undulations formed by the lines of the hand and then draw their conclusion.
A form of witchcraft for some, esoteric art for others and true science for a few, it is clear: palmistry divides.
Being very old, the origins of this practice are uncertain. Often cited parent nations include India, China, ancient Egypt, and even the Sumerian Empire.
One thing, however, is certain. It was the Gypsies and Roma who popularized palmistry and, more widely, made it known to the whole world.
Dating from Antiquity, this art was used in the Middle Ages as a means of finding witches, certain lines and stains on the hands being considered damning evidence of the practice of witchcraft.
