Every culture on Earth has elevated animals to the status of good luck charms.
Paintings, statues and other symbols are therefore more than common.
If you are familiar with our site, you already know all this.
Certain peoples, however, stood out with habits... surprising to say the least.
This is the case with the Egyptians.
Researchers have indeed found scarabs frozen in amber all over Egypt.
This may seem strange to us, but there is an explanation.
Historians believe that they simply served as good luck charms for the Egyptian people.
In the empires of the pharaohs, the scarab was seen as a symbol of the Sun, and more particularly of its eternal movement in the sky.
A satisfactory reason could be this animal's habit of rolling small balls of dung, sometimes over impressive distances.
The Egyptians then quite naturally associated this movement with that of the Sun.
There are other much more spiritual theories that we will not present to you here.
Regardless, putting this type of beetle in acrylic is a tradition dating back thousands of years.
So imagine the Egyptian priests preparing this lucky beetle.
