What's so special about the bust of Nefertiti?

The bust of Nefertiti is one of the most famous pieces of Egyptian art, and arguably one of the most beautiful too.

Like many other vestiges of this ancient civilization, we are talking here about an Egyptian lucky charm possessing enigmatic qualities which have generated much speculation.

Firstly, it is perfectly symmetrical, and almost supernaturally beautiful...

A scan of Nefertiti's bust confirmed that this beautiful face was actually just a mask. Underneath was a more realistic representation of the queen, with less prominent cheekbones, a bump on her nose and wrinkles.

This raises a fascinating question : Did the sculptor plan from the start to use his prodigious talent to create the bust of a woman, then hide it beneath a mask of divine, unattainable beauty?

The mystery doesn't end there.

Due to her fair complexion and unconventional appearance for an Egyptian, some have suggested that Nefertiti was of foreign birth.

Proponents of this view generally consider that she may have been a princess from a Mediterranean culture. The Minoans are often cited but other theories exist.

Even if this element would explain its European appearance, it would raise a whole bunch of other questions...

Why did you depict a foreign princess?

Well, by the way, was there that much contact between people?

So what was the true technological level of the Ancients?

One thing is certain , the mystery surrounding this bust of Nefertiti necklace remains unsolved.
