The itoi? What is the symbol on this signet ring?
The figure above is known by the sweet name of the itoi. This is a typical emblem of the Tohono O'odham Indian tribe, present in southern Arizona.
According to ancient legend, the man at the top of the symbol represents birth.
By following the pattern which advances by winding towards the center, we see a kind of labyrinth taking shape. Symbolically, this represents the different obstacles, trials and hazards of life.
