A Bokjumeoni... why would I need one?

The Bokjumeoni (or lucky silk bag) is a small pouch made of embroidered silk and whose use in Korea dates back to the dawn of time.

A lucky charm believed to protect our fortune, the Bokjumeoni can be divided into two categories: the durujumeoni (a round lit pouch) and the gwijumeoni (more rectangular shape).

As their traditional clothing does not have pockets, Koreans naturally needed this type of small bag to store their belongings.

Like many of us, they sometimes had the unfortunate tendency to misplace their belongings, losing hard-earned savings in the process.

Faced with this problem, the Koreans found a solution to create a small bag to which they associated their most powerful lucky symbols: the Bokjumeoni (or lucky silk bag) was born.

The embroidered patterns are largely inspired by Chinese ideograms with often interesting properties. Examples include Su (long life), Bok (fortune), Bu (wealth), Gwi (nobility) and Hui (joy).

In short, if you also tend to misplace your belongings (keys, wallet, phone), this little Korean lucky bag is made for you.
