Who was Saint Benedict? And what does his medal represent?

Born in 480 into a family of the Roman nobility, Saint Benedict distinguished himself by an astonishing life. Rejecting the desires of his time, he lived as a hermit for three years.

Secondly, he was asked to become abbot of a monastery, something which triggered a certain jealousy and which made him undergo two poisoning attempts... which he survived by the grace of the Lord.

Shortly after, he decided to begin preaching work during which he founded several monastic communities. This made him definitively enter the history of the Catholic Church as a great founder and an important vector of Christianization.

When we look at the medal of Saint Benedict more closely, we can see him holding a cross in his hand and his famous work "The Rule", the basis of the way of life of the Benedictine monks.

These two elements symbolize evangelization and remind the person who wears this religious medal of the gratitude to be felt for a saint who changed the face of Europe and the world.

Around the edge of the medal itself is the phrase “ Ejus in obitu nostro praesentia muniamus ”. The commonly accepted translation is: "May his presence at our death strengthen us."

The benefits of the Saint Benedict medal are mainly manifested by well-being and spiritual appeasement, particularly at the time of death.

According to many Christians, this is a crucial moment in which the choice of joining God or Lucifer is presented to us. We therefore understand the weight that the motto inscribed on this medal can have.

Typically, many believers invoke St. Benedict to protect their homes when someone close to them is dying. For them, Saint Benedict's intersession with the Lord would help us (us and those around us) to better see which path is the right one.

In short, the Saint Benedict medal is a wonderful Christian lucky charm that offers us courage and temerity in our faith.
