The crane? What is the link with the practice of origami?
Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, let's first explain what origami actually is.
The Japanese word "origami" is a combination of two other words: "ori" (meaning to fold) and "kami" (meaning paper).
It is believed that the practice began in the 6th century and that, due to the high cost of paper at the time, this art was reserved only for an elite and certain important religious ceremonies.
All this allows us to better understand how simple folds of paper could be elevated to the rank of real lucky charms.
In Japan, the crane is a mystical creature that was reputed to live for a thousand years. It is therefore not surprising that this animal is associated with longevity!
In certain regions of the Japanese peninsula, it is even said that if someone succeeds in folding a thousand cranes into the shape of origami, they will be granted one wish.
More symbolic than anything else for some, this idea is nevertheless very popular in Japan, in particular thanks to little Sadako Sasaki, a little girl victim of Hiroshima who tried it with the aim of asking for global peace.
Anyway, an origami crane is today a Japanese lucky charm linked to the ideas of peace and longevity, two things more than important for anyone wishing to achieve happiness.
This pendant therefore carries a strong message and could well contain certain powers.
However, it is not in these aspects that he shines the most...
Yes, its very minimalist geometric style makes it a trendy accessory that will go perfectly with sober outfits. In particular, a combination with pastel colors or shades of gray works wonders!
