Who could Baron Samedi be?
In Voodoo tradition, Baron Samedi (also called Papa Ghede) is the leader of the spirits.
His name may surprise us... After all, why Saturday?
In fact, voodoo has a good part of its roots in a sort of misguided Christian tradition. Now, the day Jesus really died was a Saturday ( the day of his crucifixion was a Friday and his resurrection was a Sunday).
According to those who respect voodoo, that Saturday, even Jesus had to respond to Baron Samedi, lord of the dead.
Another perhaps more plausible explanation is that "Saturday" resembles the Haitian word "simbi" which means zombie. The name of Baron Samedi would then only be a bad translation.
Regardless, this Baron Samedi amulet is a voodoo good luck charm associated with great healing powers.
