Runes: a concentrate of the magic of the ancient Vikings
Basically, runes are the letters of the Viking alphabet. However, limiting ourselves to this would be very stupid.
In Old Norse, the word “rune” means “knowledge, secret wisdom”.
These mystical and magical symbols (we could speak of letters but that would not be entirely correct) have been used for millennia now to protect men, attract them luck, success and a whole host of benefits, bless them with magic and even determine their future.
Originally, Viking runes were undoubtedly a means of transmitting tradition, notably by being engraved on gigantic runestones still erected throughout Europe today.
You should know that, in the original Nordic tradition, it is the god Odin himself (the wisest and highest of all the gods) who gives the runes to men.
By impaling his own heart and clinging for nine days and nine nights to the world tree Yggdrasil, he received the knowledge and primordial wisdom of the runes... which he immediately offered to humanity.
There is therefore undoubtedly something very mystical behind the Viking runes…
Throughout time, those who used it knew the seriousness of their abilities. The Vikings themselves did not dare to use them, and called on real priest-specialists, the rune masters.
If you want to learn more about Nordic culture, here is an entire collection dedicated to these warriors of the North.
In short, it's clear: most of the jewelry and runic symbols that you will find in this collection contain great powers.
