Who exactly was Saint Nicholas?
No one inspires more joy in young and old than Saint Nicholas! The first advantage of wearing this lucky religious medal is therefore that of a constant reminder of the joy that must be offered to others.
The man who later became Saint Nicholas held the office of bishop of the city of Myra. He mainly made history thanks to his simply incredible generosity.
One story, for example, tells us how he threw bags of gold through the windows of a house whose father he had heard wanted to sell his daughters as slaves. This generous act saved the girls... and undoubtedly created the children's much-loved party during which they receive gifts!
Saint Nicholas is also known for being an ardent defender of the Catholic faith and for suffering persecution during the reign of Emperor Diocletian.
Through his exemplary life and his altruism inspired by God, Saint Nicholas was canonized and even became the patron saint of a whole host of professions. People as varied as sailors, merchants, repentant thieves, students and children are in fact placed under his protection.
Note also that a particular cult is paid to this great saint in Russia and in the general Orthodox world.
