In fact, what is the story of this Aegishjalmur ore pendant?
Historians are sure: the Aegishjalmur was actually used by Nordic warriors.
This Viking symbol has indeed been found on helmets and shields.
A bit of a strange practice, no?
Well actually it serves a specific purpose.
Don't worry, you will quickly understand.
One day, while on a battlefield, a warrior did not understand what was happening to him: as soon as one of the fighters from the other side saw him, he ran away.
Faced with the enemy rout, the Viking troop achieved victory, and the man was celebrated and elevated to the rank of hero.
It was only after returning to the village that he saw a strange symbol on his helmet. (As you might guess, we're talking about the Aegishjalmur here.)
The godi (the equivalent of a shaman among the Vikings) was then formal...
It was this symbol that had scared away the adversaries, and it was a blessing from the gods!
