Beliefs of a European people? Wouldn’t acorns be a Celtic lucky charm?

"The future is contained in the present as the oak is contained in the acorn. Time brings the oak out of the acorn, but does not create it."

“I thought I was an oak tree, I was just an acorn.”

These proverbs effortlessly show us the deep connection between oaks, acorns and European culture.

We find this type of quote as early as the 14th century in France but, as you will see, European people have been using lucky acorns for much longer.

Celtic Druids believed that eating acorns would help one see the future. “Acorn” is also a word from ancient Gallic.

In Norse mythology, the tree associated with the god Thor was the oak.

More specifically, oral tradition tells us that the acorn is a symbol of life and fertility.

This is easily explained: some oaks can live up to 1000 years.

Imagine what conclusions our ancestors could draw from this...

In many regions of Europe, to mark a birth, a happy event if ever there was one, a handful of lucky acorns is buried in the family garden.

As the child grows, so does the tree.

One thing is certain, this European lucky charm therefore plays a special role for many people.

There is a commonly accepted idea regarding the symbolism of the glans.

It will take time and a lot of perseverance, but something great may be hidden deep within each of us.

Over time, a single acorn can grow into a magnificent oak forest.

A rich symbol filled with the history of our ancestors, lucky acorns undoubtedly still have many secrets to reveal to us.

In any case, for our part, we are curious.
