What link can bind the Sun and the African people?
When we look at it closer, this necklace actually looks like an elegant Soleil. We can discern in its center a fine carving similar to rays of light.
The golden color, too, is reminiscent of the many benefits that the solar star (and therefore this type of African lucky charm) can bring to our lives.
If the people of Africa have worshiped the Sun so much, it is no coincidence.
We easily understand the importance that this star can represent on a continent so subject to the vagaries of nature.
Responsible for both drought and harvests, the Sun occupies an important place in traditional African belief systems.
What we know less is that certain peoples think they come from it, in direct descent. They then see the Sun not as a god but rather as a father.
