What place could the cat statuette have among the Egyptians?
Considered the earthly incarnation of the goddess Bastet, cats were revered throughout Egypt.
Under certain dynasties, this animal was even elevated to the rank of demigod. The pharaoh's cat, for example, then occupied a much higher place than many peasants.
