What place could the cat statuette have among the Egyptians?

Considered the earthly incarnation of the goddess Bastet, cats were revered throughout Egypt.

Under certain dynasties, this animal was even elevated to the rank of demigod. The pharaoh's cat, for example, then occupied a much higher place than many peasants.

Today we are sure of this information thanks to the numerous archaeological traces that we have found.

This includes cat mummies placed in luxurious tombs, representations on bas-reliefs and even statuettes.

And yes, you heard correctly, statuettes... exactly like the one you see here!

Finely carved from a single block of sandstone, this Egyptian cat statuette is in fact identical to some that archaeologists were lucky enough to find in certain temples.

It would be very stupid to believe that the lucky cat's sole purpose would be limited to a simple decoration (even if it fulfills this role rather well).

If a people as special as the Egyptians worshiped cats, there must surely be mysteries that we have not yet unraveled... but which ones?

Some theories have emerged. All cultures around the world have their ideas about this.

Sometimes they complement each other.

Sometimes they also oppose each other.

This thorny question could well remain unanswered for centuries, who knows.

And you ? Do you have an idea that would explain the strange powers of cats?
