And so, what are the qualities associated with the Green Tara?

Tara, called Sgrol-ma in Tibet, is a Buddhist goddess with multiple forms, particularly popular in the Himalayas and neighboring countries. In many ways, she can be seen as the feminine pole of the bodhisattva (a term that literally translates to future Buddha) Avalokiteshvara.

In reality, under the influence of Tibetan Buddhism, no fewer than 108 different forms were created to represent Tara, each carrying different messages.

Of all these figures, the Green Tara is undoubtedly the most widespread, but above all the most powerful.

According to popular belief, it was born from a tear of Avalokiteshvara which, falling on the ground, formed a lake. From its waters arose a lotus which, when it bloomed, revealed the goddess Tara.

She therefore shares a whole series of characteristics with Avalokiteshvara such as compassion and the desire to help all men throughout the world.

She is also the protector of those who travel on land or sea, but also of those who undertake more spiritual journeys on the path to enlightenment.

In Tibet, it is believed that the goddess Tara is present in every virtuous woman. More particularly, the Green Tara (the one presented to us by this lucky statue) would have already been incarnated a long time ago in the form of a Nepalese princess. She is usually depicted, as is the case here, seated on a lotus throne with her right leg dangling and wearing the ornaments of a bodhisattva.

In conclusion, it is good to note that, if the Tibetans have given such importance to this type of statue of the Green Tara as a Buddhist good luck charm, it is undoubtedly not without reason...
