What is the Faravahar symbol actually?

The Faravahar is arguably the best-known symbol of the ancient Persian Empire.

Basically, it is formed of a winged solar disk at the center of which is a man with a long beard, a strange crown and holding a sort of ring in his hand.

The Faravahar was in fact a recognized emblem of Zoroastrianism, a spiritual movement inspired by the teachings of a certain Zoroaster.

With the advent of Islam in the region in the 8th century, many monks holding esoteric knowledge were killed, and sacred books were burned.

The exact meaning of Faravahar was therefore unfortunately lost.

If the symbol has nevertheless reached us, it is in fact because it was able to be transmitted via a medium that cannot be destroyed: stone.

In caves, on the walls of houses or hidden in the corners of temples, we find this mysterious symbol almost everywhere in ancient Persian territory.

Although we do not fully understand it, scholars agree that the Faravahar represents wisdom derived from mystical experiences.

It is also often used to symbolize the accession to higher truths and a fairer and more moral conscience.

Despite this beginning of an answer, a question still arises: what else could have been hidden behind such a mysterious lucky symbol?
