But actually, what is a Tibetan thangka? And who are the 8 Bhaishajyaguru?
Among the many legends and stories that Tibetan Buddhism teaches us, there is one in particular that will interest us today: that of Bhaishajyaguru.
One day, a strange blue light began to emanate from the Buddha. He then experienced a sort of trance during which he shared some precepts on a particular subject: the secret of ultimate healing.
Since that day, he has been called Bhaishajyaguru (meaning Medicine Buddha) when he is represented in blue.
In Tibetan medicine, this character is therefore associated with physical healing, yes, but not only that... He would also have the power to heal us mentally and spiritually.
A Tibetan thangka is a kind of long roll of fabric on which mantras, Buddhist deities, representations of the Buddha, in short Tibetan lucky charms, are painted.
That of the 8 Bhaishajyaguru is used to guide certain meditations.
According to some masters, if we succeed in establishing a link with the 8 Medicine Buddhas through serious practice of Buddhism, we could obtain certain powers.
Initially, the Bhaishajyaguru would then allow us to heal ourselves.
In a second, it would even be a question of healing others.
