What is the “hand of Fatma” actually?
It is an ancient Arabic lucky charm from the Middle East. Considered a protective sign by many faiths, it is known to bring luck, health and ward off the evil eye of the wearer.
Also known as Khamsa (which translates to "five" in French), this powerful symbol shows us a hand...but not just any hand. Indeed, it is neither more nor less than that of Fatma, one of the daughters of the Prophet Mohammed!
Some associate its five fingers with the five pillars of Islam. Others, to the five books of the Torah. Yes, it is also a lucky charm for the Jews! Called in this case "hand of Myriam", this oriental ring is associated with one of the sisters of Moses and Aaron.
We can therefore give different meanings and find a whole bunch of origins to Fatma's hand. Its use, however, will almost always be the same...
Far from being common, this type of lucky ring has a strong aura which will ward off bad energies from its wearer. Some see this as the expression of mystical powers while others will speak more of divine forces.
One thing is certain: decorating your hand with this ring should brighten your future somewhat.
