What is Ascension actually?

The Ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ is a fundamental feast of the Christian religion, and is also celebrated in almost all Churches.

Every year, we gather 40 days after Easter to celebrate the resurrection and ascension of Christ into heaven.

The story of the Ascension of our Lord, celebrated as one of the twelve great feasts of the Church, is found in the book of Acts 1:3-11. It is also mentioned in the Gospels of Mark (16:19) and Luke (24:50-53).

The scene of the Ascension is often summed up in a simple sentence: "After he had said this, he was lifted up while they looked at him, and a cloud hid him from their sight." » (Acts 1:9).

In short, the religious icon that we see here presents Jesus surrounded by angels, symbol of the elevation of his physical body towards the kingdom of God.

When we take a closer look at this Christian lucky charm, we quickly understand its sacred character.

Indeed, this image was in some way “canonized” from the earliest times of the Church.

There is therefore no doubt that this icon will have its place in our homes and on our altars.
